Elmie is the CEO of AIA Public Takaful Malaysia. He is a chartered member of the Chartered Islamic Finance Professionals (CIIF) and a fellow of the Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII). Elmie also sits on the boards of the Islamic Banking and Finance Institute (IBFIM) and Insurance Services Malaysia (ISM). He is also a Grand Council member for CIIF.
Wan Saifulrizal Wan Ismail is a qualified actuary with 17 years experience in the takaful and insurance industry with the regulator, insurance consulting company and direct life insurer. In his current role as the Chief Executive Officer, Wan Saifulrizal has the overall responsibility for driving the takaful business and overseeing the performance for Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad.
As Chief Marketing Officer of PruBSN (September 2017 – December 2019), Wan Saifulrizal oversees the company’s entire marketing and communications initiatives, and led product development efforts which gave birth to award-winning flagship products, PruBSN WarisanPlus and PruBSN AnugerahPlus. Wan Saifulrizal spearheaded the company’s regulatory compliance efforts for LIFE Framework and Reform Agenda. He further shapes the strategy behind the substantial user growth of Pulse by Prudential app, the first AI-powered health app of its kind in the region. Wan Saifulrizal is also the advisor for PruBSN’s charitable arm, PruBSN Prihatin, where he has ensured the successful implementation of PruBSN Microtakaful Jariyah programme.
Wan Saifulrizal joined Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad in July 2015 as the Chief Strategy Officer to lead various strategic initiatives within the company including preparation for LIFE Framework, General Insurance strategy and implementation of new bancassurance model for one of the bancassurance partner.
Prior to joining PAMB (from September 2011 to June 2015), Wan Saifulrizal was with Towers Watson to set up and grow the firm’s insurance consulting practice in Malaysia.
Wan Saifulrizal graduated from the City University London with a Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science.
Shahrul, aged 56, the Chief Executive Officer of Etiqa General Takaful Berhad is a seasoned professional in both general insurance and takaful business with 29 years of experience in the industry. He has a relatively broad-based exposure covering business development, agency management and development, as well as strategic business transformation.
Shahrul holds a Diploma in Insurance from Institute Technology Malaysia (ITM) / Australia Insurance Institute as well as an Executive Masters of Business Administration from Open University Malaysia. He is also a Senior Affiliate CIP in Insurance & Risk Management of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance & Finance (ANZIIF) (2011) and an Affiliate in Financial Planning of the Malaysian Financial Planning Council (2009). He is a Senior Associate of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance & Finance (ANZIIF) and a Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP).
He began his career in the insurance industry with MBf Insurance in 1992, and furthered his career in American Malaysian Insurance Berhad as well as Malaysia National Insurance. Following the merger he joined Etiqa in 2004 as Vice President, Corporate Insurance Business and his career progressed steadily, until he was appointed Chief Agency Officer in 2016, responsible for directing agency related matters for all Etiqa’s Malaysia based entities and has led significant improvements in Etiqa’s agency business. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Etiqa General Takaful Berhad in Spetember 2020 and brings a wealth of experience in business turnaround as well as strong leadership and business acumen to the position of Chief Executive Officer.
En Zafri Ab Halim has been the Chief Executive Officer of Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad since September 2017. He holds a Master of Science in Project Management from George Washington University, USA, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia. He is a member of Malaysian Institute of Accountant and a certified Chartered Accountant.
En Zafri is currently a Grand Council Member of the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance (CIIF). He also sits on the Management Committee of Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) as Treasurer of the association and has held this portfolio since 2013. He was recently appointed as Member of Standing Committee of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (Representative of MTA).
En Zafri started his distinguished career with Malaysia National Insurance Bhd. He then led the Finance & Corporate services division of Bank AlJazira, Saudi Arabia. Upon returning to Malaysia, he was appointed as Chief Financial Officer and thereafter Chief Executive Officer of Great Eastern Takaful Berhad. In September 2017, he assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer of Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad until now.

As Chief Executive Officer of Great Eastern Takaful Berhad since January 2018, Shahrul is responsible for the decision-making and implementation of corporate and sales strategies that drive market share and overall growth for the company.
He has accumulated a wealth of experience working in the banking & insurance sector over the last 20 years and his expertise includes sales & marketing, asset & fund management as well as mortgage sales. He is also particularly skilled in developing multi-channel capabilities in both local and international financial markets.
Prior to joining Great Eastern Takaful Berhad, he was responsible for managing and leading sales and distribution channels across all business lines as Chief Distribution Officer at Prudential BSN Takaful. His role here included developing strategic partnerships and implementing proper standards and procedures in Sales Quality, Sales Support, Recruitment and Training.
Shahrul joined Prudential Fund Management Malaysia in 2008 and in June 2010, entrusted with the role of Chief Executive Officer (designate), where he spearheaded Prudential’s expansion into new markets. He was also instrumental in transferring overall funds from Singapore to Indonesia.
He started his career in Citibank Berhad as a Mortgage Officer in 1999 and went on to join OCBC Bank Bhd as its Regional Sales Manager (AVP) in 2004. He then joined Standard Chartered Bank Berhad as the National Head of Sales Channel Management in 2005.
Shahrul holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wichita State University, USA with a major in Management. He was in the Dean’s Honour Roll list and graduated with a ‘Cum Laude’ (Distinction).
He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals and Chairman of the Corporate Communication sub-committee of the esteemed Malaysian Takaful Association.
Mohd Asri Omar is the Chief Executive Officer of Hong Leong MSIG Takaful Berhad since January 2018. He is accountable to drive and execute the company’s transformation strategies to ensure efficient operations of the company’s business to achieve sustainable and profitable growth.
He graduated from the International Islamic University Malaysia with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Bachelor of Shariah (LLB(S)) degrees. He also holds an MBA in Insurance & Financial Services from the Graduate School of Management and is a Fellowship of the Malaysian Insurance Institute (FMII) graduate.
Mohd Asri Omar has over 20 years of experience in both the Takaful and insurance industries. He started his career in MNI Takaful Berhad (now Etiqa Takaful Berhad) in 1998. Subsequently, he held senior management positions in several leading insurers and takaful operators covering key functions including business strategy and planning, operations, legal, Shariah, risk management & compliance. He is also experienced in the start-up of business, merger and acquisition as well as single license exercises involving leading takaful operators.
Mandated to steward Zurich Malaysia’s general takaful business and taking it to the next chapter, Shamsul Azman Alias was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Zurich General Takaful Malaysia Berhad in April 2022.
An accountancy graduate from University Kebangsaan Malaysia and a true-blue industry veteran, Shamsul brings a breadth of experience in the insurance and takaful industry. His 30 years of experience cuts across a spectrum of responsibilities across various key focus areas such as distribution channel, broking, bancassurance, underwriting and claims.
Prior to joining Zurich Malaysia in December 2021, he worked with Takaful Ikhlas General Berhad since 2019; as the Chief Commercial Officer.

Mohd Radzuan Mohamed has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry, covering wide range of expertise, such as takaful and retakaful, insurance and reinsurance, broking, consulting and adjusting. Prior joining MTA, he has held various senior management positions in various insurance and takaful companies he served.
He brings strong leadership, management, operational and entrepreneurial skills, with local and international experience, which are critical elements in spearheading the transformation of the Takaful industry especially in achieving the new Takaful landscape aspired in Value Based Intermediation for Takaful Framework.
He is currently a member of Lembaga Zakat Selangor (MAIS) Board Risk, Integrity and Compliance Committee. He was also a recipient of the Risk Icon Award for outstanding contribution in the field of Enterprise Risk Management.
Radzuan is a Certified Professional in Islamic Finance (CPIF), an Associate of the Institute Risk Management (AIRM, UK), Enterprise Risk Professional Certification (IERP), and is an alumnus of the Glasgow Caledonian University (GSU) in Scotland.
