Kuala Lumpur, 4 April 2025 – As part of its continuing commitment to support victims of the Putra Heights gas explosion, the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA), alongside its member operators, extended its on-ground outreach with both operational and humanitarian relief.
Representatives from Takaful operators were stationed at the Temporary Relief Centre (Pusat Pemindahan Sementara – PPS) Masjid Putra Heights, providing direct assistance and real-time claims advisory to affected certificate holders.
Importantly, four General Takaful companies, namely Etiqa General Takaful Berhad, Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Am Berhad, Takaful Ikhlas General Berhad and Zurich General Takaful Malaysia Berhad also present with their appointed adjusters to facilitate efficient claims handling. Victims were able to submit claims directly at the booths and receive immediate guidance on documentation and eligibility. This on-ground coordination ensures that affected individuals receive fast and personal support without the need to travel to branch offices.
In conjunction with this outreach, Takaful4All Cares, the industry’s collective CSR platform, presented a donation amounting to RM10,000 to Masjid Putra Heights for the distribution of food and essential supplies to victims and volunteers. The donation was presented to Masjid Putra Heights’s management, Ustaz Muhammad Khair Zainal by Encik Zaifizal Zainal Abidin of the Malaysian Takaful Association, and witnessed by YB Datuk Seri Haji Mohamad Sabu, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, YB Datuk Seri Haji Ahmad Haji Maslan, Deputy Minister of Works, YB Tuan Abbas Salimmi Azmi, ADUN Seri Serdang, and Encik Asri Suratman, representing Takaful4All Cares.
“Through our presence on the ground and this contribution, we reaffirm the values of compassion and mutual responsibility that define the Takaful industry,” said Encik Mohd Radzuan Mohamed, CEO of the Malaysian Takaful Association.
MTA and its member companies will continue working with local authorities, mosques, and NGOs to ensure inclusive and coordinated assistance.
